How To Operate A Trowel

Moving a trowel
The blades on a trowel spin in a clockwise direction. All EDCO trowels are directed left or right by applying a slight upward (lifting) or downward (lowering) pressure on the handle. Upward pressure will put more pressure on the blade furthest from you and that will push the trowel to the left. Downward pressure will put more pressure on the blade closest to you and that will push the trowel to the right. Similiar techniques will move the trowel forwards and backwards. After a little practice, a novice can easily operate an EDCO trowel.

Adjusting the blade angle
Rotate the blade adjustment knob (located on the top end of the trowel handle) clockwise to tilt the blades and counterclockwise to flatten the angle of the blade. Blade adjustment is based on the desired performance for the specific job application. For example, the degree of the blade angle for a float blade will be flat and when finishing concrete, the angle is usually about 3 to 5 degrees.

Clean off the trowel after use
Clean the entire trowel, blades and adapter thoroughly after use. The blades can usually be cleaned with a high pressure hose and water while the concrete is still wet.

EDCO Trowel Blades
EDCO has quick change or standard bolt-on trowel blades for 24” to 46” power trowels. EDCO also has polymer and stainless steel blades for epoxy trowels.

Installing Quick Change Blades

*Only change the blades after the trowel has been disconnected from its power source*

1. Locate the leading edge of the blade.
2. Hold the blade in your hand with the mounting bracket side up and the leading edge to
the left.
3. Slide mounting bracket, centered, along the blade adapter under the trowel until the “V”
on the rear of the mounting bracket contacts the rear locking pin in the blade adapter.
4. Push the blade into the locking pin and up into the front pin on the blade adapter until
the blade snaps into place and then release.
5. To remove, push the blade back into the rear locking pin and down away from the front, pin and allow it to drop the adapter.
